Woolverstone Macmillan Grand Draw

Guy and Trudi donated a car to Macmillan, in order to help raise thousands of pounds for a new cancer centre at Ipswich Hospital. This gesture comes after their late father made a similar donation in the 70’s.
Guy says “We have always been, as a family, supportive of local charities and projects in our local area. It was something my father was very keen on. Many years ago he donated a car for the SOS Ipswich Star appeal for the Ipswich Hospital. When we heard about this latest appeal, it just seemed the right thing to do to follow in the family tradition. It is a very small thing to do but we are pleased to have been able to support this important fundraiser both by raising money and awareness of the project. We are sadly, all too aware that cancer touches so many families and unfortunately none of us knows what life is holding for us”.
The car was taken to many regional events in 2016, until the winner was announced in December. The winner of the brand new Audi A3 Sportback was Richard Arbon from Woodbridge, he is pictured below alongside Guy.
The Woolverstone Macmillan Centre will combine the hospital’s current outpatient chemotherapy and day unit services in one purpose-built centre. The chemotherapy suites will have the space and equipment to treat 30 people at one time. This means 21,000 people will be able to be treated each year, more than double the current number.
Helen Glenholmes, Macmillan’s fundraising manager for East Suffolk and Waveney, said: “Every day the number of people affected by cancer is increasing, so it is vital that Macmillan Cancer Support, together with our partner Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust, work together to improve our local cancer services. When Guy offered us a car to help with the campaign we were absolutely delighted. Thanks to the generous support of Trucks R Us and the other sponsors we are now even closer to our goal of £3.7million and we would like to thank everyone who took part by buying a ticket”.
