Laura Thomas
Laura is our ‘barrister with a difference’. Her career started as a criminal Barrister in London before moving to a leading law firm as Partner, and Head of Regulatory and Corporate Defence. Leaving private practice behind, Laura then worked in executive roles in global subsea services, civil engineering, and construction, focusing on risk and health and safety, before setting up her own strategic risk consultancy, Consul-T. She also acted as Deputy Traffic Commissioner for many years.
As Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel, Laura is the Board Director accountable for SHEQ, ESG, risk, legal and compliance; using her invaluable knowledge of what happens when things go wrong, to support the Group in getting it right. Laura is passionate about health and safety and wellbeing and firmly believes that ‘Healthy, happy people are safer and more productive’!

The team has raised significant funds for local organisations including St Elizabeth Hospice, the Motor Neurone Disease Association, East Coast Hospice and GeeWizz.
