Trainee Estimator – Demolition

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring Estimator looking to build a long-term career in construction. As a Trainee Estimator, you will support the pre-construction team across all estimating and tendering activities, gaining hands-on experience while working closely with experienced professionals. Full training and development will be provided.

We are seeking someone with the right attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine willingness to learn, rather than extensive estimating experience.

Requirements:

• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and tenders for demolition projects, crushing, remediation, enabling works and civil engineering.
• Support the pre-construction process from tender enquiry through to contract award and handover.
• Help with take-offs, pricing, supplier enquiries, and basic cost analysis.
• Reviewing demolition drawings, asbestos reports, pre‑demo surveys, and structural reports.
• Help with waste classification, haulage pricing, recycling/crushing options, and material disposal routes.
• Learn and apply company estimating procedures, systems, and best practices.
• Work closely with senior estimators, project managers, and the wider contracts team.
• Willingness to undertake site visits, surveys and pre‑start meetings.
• Contribute to maintaining accurate records and tender documentation.

Requirements:

• A-levels (or equivalent) essential, including:
  • Maths & English: Grade C or equivalent and above
• Degree educated not essential.
• Some prior experience or exposure to the construction industry (e.g. site-based, office-based, placement, or work experience).
• Strong numerical ability and an interest in commercial and cost management.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• Full UK driving licence essential.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to develop professionally.
