Heavy plant and commercial vehicles are fundamental to many of the industries in which Tru7 Group operates. We therefore continually invest in modern machinery and technology designed to improve productivity while reducing unnecessary fuel consumption and emissions.
Where possible, our non-road machinery uses Stage V compliant engines, while our HGV fleet uses Euro VI engines. Regular maintenance, efficient journey planning and a policy of avoiding unnecessary vehicle idling further support the efficient operation of our fleet.
Recycling Construction Materials and Supporting a Circular Economy
Reducing waste and finding productive new uses for construction materials is an important part of our environmental approach.
Through Tru Agg, construction and demolition materials can be processed using our wash plant, crushing and screening equipment to create recycled aggregates suitable for a range of construction applications. Our recycled aggregate range includes products such as crushed concrete, recycled sharp sand, recycled stone and recycled ballast.
Across our contracting operations, careful material management can also reduce unnecessary transportation and disposal. On Tru Earthworks' Corby project, for example, the effective reuse and management of materials on site reduced double handling, fuel consumption and plant hours while minimising the requirement for off-site muck away.
Reducing Energy and Water Consumption
Our environmental investment extends beyond machinery.
Tru7 Group's main premises are located on a reclaimed brownfield quarry site, with modern insulated buildings and solar generation installed to help reduce reliance on grid electricity. According to our current Sustainability Policy, solar generation can reduce grid electricity requirements by up to 65% during the summer months, with the remaining electricity supply purchased through a renewable tariff.
Our concrete and aggregate wash-plant operations also make significant use of recycled water, reducing demand for mains water.
Carbon Management
Tru7 Group supports the UK's longer-term transition towards lower greenhouse gas emissions while recognising the carbon-intensive nature of construction, transport and heavy plant operations.
Alongside investment in efficient plant, fleet management and renewable electricity, our Sustainability Policy includes the purchase of independently verified carbon credits following commercial fuel orders, using recognised schemes and standards.
Environmental Management on Site
Environmental responsibility also forms part of project planning and delivery.
Tru Demolition assesses environmental aspects and impacts on relevant projects, considering areas including emissions, recycling, noise, vibration, dust, contamination, spillages and vehicle movements. The division's environmental management approach is supported by ISO 14001 certification.
Across Tru Earthworks, material management, remediation, ecological constraints, drainage and sustainable infrastructure increasingly form part of complex project delivery. Recent work includes major flood alleviation schemes and infrastructure projects requiring careful management of soils, water and environmental constraints.
