Breaking Barriers in Construction: Katie Kelleher
By Marc TRU7 | 7 May 2025
Welcoming katie kelleher to tru7 hq!
The construction industry has long been associated with tradition, but pioneers like Katie are reshaping its future. Her journey into construction wasn’t exactly planned—stepping into the industry as a Lifting Technician apprentice somewhat unexpectedly. However, her passion and skill soon propelled her forward, establishing herself as one of the UK’s leading Crane Operators with an impressive portfolio to match.
Apprenticeships in construction
Katie’s story isn’t just one of personal success; it’s a testament to how apprenticeships open doors to careers that might not have been previously considered. She’s determined to make the industry more inclusive, actively promoting apprenticeships and STEM careers for women. Recognising the challenges of attracting individuals who might not traditionally see themselves in construction, Katie works tirelessly to highlight the industry’s value while breaking down barriers.
Her strong presence on social media has played a crucial role in driving this change. By utilising various online platforms, she continues to inspire and advocate for diversity, emphasising how apprenticeships make construction careers more accessible for all.
Tour of Tru7
During our conversation, we discussed Katie’s current role at the CPA, the history of Tru7, and our own ongoing commitment to expanding apprenticeship opportunities. It was an insightful discussion that reinforced the importance of making the industry welcoming to talent from all backgrounds.
And of course, no visit to Tru7 HQ would be complete without a guided tour of our facility—something we were thrilled to share with Katie. We look forward to seeing her again soon, as we continue pushing forward in our mission to create a more inclusive and diverse construction industry.
